PART II
Trust flinches as Hope cleans his scrapes with disinfectant wipes. He sniffs as she applies large
band-aids to his minor wounds. Tears begin to flow freely from Trust's face.
He coughs and lets out a sneeze. Now tears prick at Hope's eyes in sympathy.
“Why are you crying?” she asks.
“You don't know me but you chased away Rudeness and gave me band-aids for my boo boos.” He says.
Hope tilts her head and gives him a radiant smile. She pulls out package of tissues from her backpack,
always prepared, and offers them to Trust.
“Well," She says,“ Lets be friends! My name is Hope. What's yours?”
“Tttrust.” He stammers.
“Well, Tttrust,” She teases, “That's a lovely name!” Hope giggles. A smile peeks out from Trust's lips.
Trust lets out a small laugh and a hiccup. “I like your name too, Hope.” He says shyly.
Hope reaches out her hand. After a moment of confusion,
Trust raises his hand in return and Hope shakes it firmly.
The two short kids get up from where they were sitting on the grass, brushing off their pants.
Now move away from the smiling kids.
You walk forward, your eyes moving right and left, searching.
Your eyes come to rest on two old men playing Checkers. One man is Mr. Hothead and the other man is
Mr. Patience. As you walk closer to the pair sitting down, you hear Mr. Hothead yelling at Mr.
Patience. “You're cheating!” He exclaims. Mr. Hothead grinds his teeth, bunches up his fists, and flips
the board with an angry smack. Game pieces soar into the air. They drop like pebbles, making clicking
and clacking noises as they land on the ground. Mr. Patience takes a deep visible breath, trying to
convey calm to Mr. Hothead. Mr. Hothead's face turns a darker shade of red and he growls.
Mr. Hothead storms away.
Now let's follow Mr. Hothead to the other side of the park.
