...Now let's move on to the area of the park where teenagers like to skateboard.
PART IV
Optimism is a tall young man. He is practicing his skateboard tricks there. Optimism falls and
Pride jeers at him, laughing, “I never fall during my tricks!” He boasts.
Optimism gets up and dusts off his jeans. “Well,” He counters, “If we don't fall down,
we'll never learn how to pick ourselves up again.”
Pride huffs, having been corrected, and leaves with his group of friends.
Purity watches the exchange from the benches. She grabs a water bottle and walks toward her friend,
Optimism. Purity throws the bottle of water into the air and Optimism catches it with ease. Optimism
takes a swig of water and lets out a refreshed, “Ah!”. Purity giggles as she watches Optimism pour
water on his head, dousing his hair. Water runs down his face, and he laughs with her.
They share a smile.
“Ha. Ha. Ha.” Mocks Crudeness, “You two are so cute as a couple!”
“We're not a couple, so back off Crudeness! We're just friends sharing a good time!” Purity says.
Optimism shrugs, looking away, a hand on his neck. Crudeness smirks and she moves on. After
Crudeness has left, Optimism timidly reaches out to hold Purity's hands, his fingers playing with hers.
Mustering all of his courage, he stutters, “Dddo you, I mean, wwould you like to be a ccouple?”
Purity looks down at their hands in surprise.
“Uh. Um. Sure, I guess. I mean, I just see you as a friend, but we could try to be more.”
She smiles at Optimism reassuringly. He takes a deep breath, relief on his face.
A shy smile plays on his
lips. His hand reaches out to cup her head and he tilts his face, silently asking for a kiss. Purity blushes
and lifts her chin in acceptance. He shyly brushes his lips on hers and they back away quickly. Purity
places a hand on her heart, cheeks red. Optimism is bent over, breathing heavy. He stands up, brushing
a hand through his hair. “Wow!” Says Optimism, “What a rush!” Purity places a hand gently on her
lips, peering over at Optimism with a new light in her eyes.
“They do say that friends make the best spouses.” She whispers softly.
The new couple walks home together, loosely holding hands.
Now move away from this lovely couple called Optimism and Purity.
Their day is done.
The sun is beginning to set.
Good night.
